Focus integrating primary sources into instruction and using media to address the Common Core State Standards and build 21st century skills.

9:05-9:15  Partners provide one item from pocket or purse & explore these primary sources (compile list on sheet)

 

9:15-9:25  Provide each small group with a primary source (realia, letter, map, photo, postcard) & direct group to examine & discuss their item.  Then give each group the appropriate analyzing sheet & have group complete.

 

9:25-9:30  Select group present their primary source & findings. Discuss presentations & review types of primary sources (list on large sheet)

 

9:30-9:40  Guided whole group discussion: "Think like a Historian", media resources & literacy strategies ***  Library of Congress other history websites

 

9:40-9:45  Reflect on activities using 3-2-1 form (evaluation)
