Teacher Action Research Evalaution

There would be three sections to the questionnaire completed by each school librarian

1. General demographics

2. Pre Post for kids (KWL)

3. Pre Post for teachers (probably print & on line)

Evaluation/Teacher Action Research-→in addition need review of research which I think can be the 20+ library studies-→then a team can compile data & compile action research report.

WHO demographics

School demographics: ethnic, ELL, SpEd, Gate, Teacher number of years teaching

Total Number of third graders/third grade teachers

Number of third graders & teachers participate in lessons

Planning and Preparation time

How much collaboration time

Types of resources: how many of each, cost, time to access, compile

How many lessons, length of lesson, resources used/taught

WHAT

Third grade students learn about their neighborhood and the city of San Francisco   

Pre test KWL

What do you know about/what do you want to learn (these might not be final 4 topics??)

1. Where their neighborhood is located in relation to other neighborhoods in SF

2. major SF landmarks

3. basic understanding of mapping skills

4. Local Native American tribes, explorers and settlers who first came to SF

Pre test for teachers:

1. List all Strategies and resources you have used for teaching third grade social science:

Strategies: (need to add/revise/organize) whole class, small group, print and internet research, collaborate with school librarian and/or other teacher, webquest, graphic organizers, speakers, field trips

Resources: books, digital cameras, Ivideo cameras, creating web pages, blogs, wikis, online webquest, graphic organizers, use of encyclopedias, maps, and other reference materials, primary source materials, contacts with local organizations

2. List all Strategies and resources you would like to use for teaching third grade social science:

Strategies: whole class, small group, print and internet research, collaborate with school librarian and/or other teacher webquest, graphic organizers, speakers, field trips
