Evaluation

How will I determine if this program has been a success?

By measuring attendance statistics will show a decline in the rate of recidivism among students from Thurgood Marshall Academic High School.

Students who take part in the “Reality Check” program are spending more time at school focused on their studies.  Absenteeism is on the decline.

Students who are involved in the program are seeking help from the library source list.  (Books, DVDs, cds, community outreach, and school support volunteers.)

Students and teachers request to increase the number of times we offer this program each year. At this time we will be offering it in October-November (6 weeks). Hopefully, we can repeat this program April and May (6 weeks) as school winds down for summer.

With the success of our first program and because of our efforts in attracting publicity, we will receive an increase of funding from our community.  As word of mouth, newspaper clippings and public radio share Thurgood Marshall Library Reality Check Program will receive offers of assistance.  We will pursue grants.  We will apply for scholarships for our students.

The Teen Advisory Board will supervise surveys in the library.  There will be a survey for students and one for staff.  The purpose of the surveys is to take an in-depth look at the Reality Check program.  The surveys will help determine what worked and what needs to be improved.  How can we make this program even better?
